Digital Initiatives

Digital Initiatives are designed to help set standards and criteria in the creation and conversion of the university’s academic resources into digital collections of permanent research value. A collection of metadata crosswalks have been created in an attempt to identify interoperable elements among metadata standards. The purpose of these standards are to assist with the metadata when converting books, manuscripts, photographs, maps, scholarly publications, etc. into a digital format for presentation over the web.

Vision Statement

To serve as a library for BYU, the Church and the world by providing electronic resources that support the education of minds and spirits, the advancement of truth and knowledge, and the extension of the blessings of learning.

Mission Statement

The digital library is a combination of unique collections and services that support learning, teaching, course development, and research and are directed specifically at supporting the institutional objectives of the university through the acquisition of electronically published information, the creation of reformatted digitized resources, and by providing access points to a repository of digital materials.
