Changing Location/Libraries

Changing Locations

  1. In the Modify Title wizard, click the Call Number/Item tab.
  2. Under Item Information, the Home location and Current location need to match:
Home location: Verify the appropriate location where the book will be housed (e.g. LEE-LIB). If the book needs to be in another location (for example, HUM-REF, LOCKED, SCI-REF) make the appropriate change by selecting a new location from the pull-down menu.
Current location: This location should match the Home location. Use the pull-down menu to select a location that matches the Home location.
  3. Remember to add your initials and mod in the 583 field.
  4. Click Save.

Please see the Brigham Young University Libraries Cataloging Matrix for the correct Location names.

Changing Libraries

Library materials that have been processed in the Acquisitions Department will have the correct library assigned (for example, LEE or SPEC-COLL). If you need to change the library for a specific item:

  1. In the Modify Title wizard, click the Call Number/Item tab.
  2. Under Call number information, select a different library from the Call library pull-down menu.
  3. Click Save. Notice that the Item library under the Item information section has changed to match the Call library.
  4. On the Bibliographic tag, the 596 field will still contain the previous library name. You can either delete the 596 field, or keep the current 596 and wait for ADUtext to run overnight. Either choice will result in a 596 field that contains the name of the new library after ADUtext has successfully finished running.
  5. Remember to add your initials and mod in the 583 field.

Please see the Brigham Young University Libraries Cataloging Matrix for the correct Library names.
